Amber Lynn
Biography
Birthdate: Tuesday 3rd of September 1963Age: 48 years young
In 1992, Lynn dedicated her 28th birthday party at the Bel Age hotel in Beverly Hills, California to a benefit in honor of The Youth Aids Foundation of Los Angeles, an organization providing housing and assistance for helping runaways get off the streets and teenagers afflicted with HIV which was about to go under. An August 1992 issue of The Los Angeles Times quoted her statement on page two; "lets give them food clothing and shelter and we'll worry about role models later" alongside a shot of her holding a small infant girl, dressed in a formal gown. This was a breakthrough moment for how the adult industry was viewed by the mainstream concerning its crossover involvement in children's organizations, as never before had a children's organization knowingly accepted support from the adult entertainment industry.
She is the sister of the late porn actor Buck Adams, who died from heart failure in 2008. This was discovered when she and Adams were about to do a scene together, and they confessed to being siblings.
Born and raised in southern California, Amber Lynn grew up with dreams of becoming rich, beautiful and famous. She got involved in the L.A. club scene, and struck up an acquaintance with Althea Flynt, the wife of "Hustler" magazine publisher Larry Flynt. She soon was doing nude layouts for "Hustler," "Penthouse" and other mens magazines. When her friend and colleague Ginger Lynn Allen (aka Ginger Lynn) began making porn films, Amber saw the kind of money she was making and decided to take a shot at it, too. She made her porn debut in _Personal Touch 3 (1983)_ and went on to become one of the biggest adult-film stars of the 1980s. When the Traci Lords scandal engulfed the industry in the 1980s, many of her friends and co-workers got caught up in it and there were many indictments against industry figures, but although Amber was acquainted with and had worked with many involved in the incident, she managed to come out of it unscathed. However, that scandal and the suicide of her friend and fellow porn queen Shauna Grant a few years previously shook her, and she decided to take a break from the business. She landed a gig doing personal appearances with fellow porn diva Tracey Adams in Canada, and it opened up a whole new world for her. She decided that live entertainment was what she wanted to do, and she kept at it for the next few years until the market was swamped with porn stars doing live dance shows, and the money started to dry up. Amber returned to L.A. and got back into doing magazine layouts again. By the mid-1990s she was back making films, but by that time producers weren't willing to pay her the prices she was asking, and she wound up making mostly girl-girl films and a few non-sex appearances in other porn films. She had also developed drug and alcohol problems, and by 1999 her personal life and career were in such a troubled state that she took time off to get clean and straighten her life out. In 2000, clean and sober, she went back to making films, and is still going at it.
